It’s best to book your newborn session while you’re still pregnant, ideally in your second or early third trimester. These sessions fill up quickly, and we want to ensure we capture those first tender days when your baby is still so new.

The ideal time for newborn photos is within the first 10-14 days after birth, when your baby is still in that sleepy, curled-up phase. However, newborns are still considered ‘newborn’ up to 12 weeks, so if you’re not ready in those first couple of weeks, celebrating the end of the first trimester is just as special. No matter when you choose, now is always the best time—your baby will keep growing, and we can never go back to this moment.

Absolutely. Babies don’t always arrive on schedule, and that’s okay! I only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month to ensure flexibility in adjusting your session to the baby’s actual arrival.

A typical newborn session lasts about 2 hours, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing your baby. We work at your baby’s pace, ensuring a relaxed, stress-free experience.

Newborn sessions are typically held in the comfort of your home - their first home. This allows you and your baby to stay relaxed in a familiar environment, and we use natural light and simple set-ups to create beautiful, intimate images.

Not at all. We need very little to make beautiful photos—just one or two spots with good natural light. My focus is always on the connection between you and your baby. If your home is special to you, it can certainly play a part in telling your family’s story. Once your session is booked, I’ll share tips on how to prepare, so you can feel relaxed and ready.

Absolutely! While my base sessions focus on capturing the immediate family, other close family members can make the session even more special. These moments of togetherness are fleeting, and capturing your family’s unique bond is at the heart of what I do. If you’d like to include extended family members, just let me know, and we can discuss how best to incorporate them into the session.

Don’t worry, it’s completely normal. Newborn sessions are baby-led, which means we’ll take breaks for feeding, changing, and comforting as needed. I’ve worked with many newborns, and we’ll take the time to ensure your little one is content and comfortable. My photography style leans towards a lifestyle approach with gentle guidance, offering a documentary feel within the comfort of your home. Instead of traditional posing on beanbags, we incorporate elements of your surroundings—your bed, couch, and personal swaddles. I have some neutral swaddles and baby knits just in case but I always prefer your baby to be surrounded by their own things as part of the memory keeping journey.

You’re welcome to dress your baby in something you love, but often, less is more. Many parents opt for simple, timeless looks like wraps or neutral-coloured outfits. We can chat ahead of time about what works best for the look you’re after. While I technically don't have a client wardrobe, I do have a handful of emergency outfits and wraps in case you don't have something.

I do light editing to adjust lighting, colour, and tones but I don’t alter bodies or heavily retouch. I also can’t Photoshop out clutter, so a light tidy is helpful. My focus is on capturing everything naturally and beautifully, just as it is.

If you have selected a package which includes 10 or 20 images, I'll deliver your proofing gallery within three weeks of your session. Final touch ups will be made to your selected images within one week of your selection.

If you have selected an all inclusive package, your fully edited gallery will be delivered in three weeks of your session.

It’s completely normal for newborns to have skin blemishes or jaundice. During editing, I make light adjustments to soften temporary issues like these, while still keeping your baby’s natural look. I won’t remove anything permanent because I believe every little detail is part of their story.

If your baby's skin is particularly acne prone, I will ask you to send me a picture and we can make a decision to reschedule to a later date.
